I’m giving up tumblr for Lent.

I don’t think there’s any particular moral courage in giving up your limited time with something you enjoy when it isn’t harmful.
Willpower, however…probably.
I think I’m just annoyed with how universally praised giving up, say, television or internet or your phone can be. They are awesome, exciting, praiseworthy ways of entertaining, informing and communicating! Why do we think they’re so terrible? Because they have screens attached? If I said I was giving up reading for a month (because it’s something I enjoy, much like watching TV,) people would be more appalled than supportive, I think. Would it be okay if all of my reading was done on a kindle?
Basically, modern innovation has resulted in awesomeness, and I wish people would accept that instead of longing for a simpler, happiest past that doesn’t really exist. Go watch Midnight in Paris, people.
